Everyone's getting ready to go back to school... including Stephanie!

What's your favorite school memory?
My whole freshman year at NYU was one big, happy memory. I was in the theatre program, and I took all of my theatre classes with the same group of people (we were the "Blue Group"). We were and still are like a family, and that year was simply incredible.

How about embarrassing memory?
I'm sure I must have some, but I can't think of any off the top of my head!!!

Do you remember your first day of school?
I remember kindergarten orientation. I remember being so excited to go to school. My big brother always came home from school with homework to do, and I wanted to have homework to do,too!

What do you miss the most about grade/high school?
The people. I went to the same school from 5th-12th grade. It was a small school (there were 100 people in our graduating class), and everyone knew everyone. I miss the friends that I've lost touch with, and the teachers that I loved.

How about college?
I miss NYU, the late-night scene rehearsals, the dorm life, etc. But college is not over for me yet. In fact, at the rate I'm going, I'll probably be in college part-time for the rest of my life! Lol.

What classes are you going to be taking this fall?
I'm taking Victorian Literature and Images of WWII.

Stephanie shares her favorite (and least favorite!) GL moments of the past few months.

Standout Scene

Must See TV: Reva & Jonathan
Kim Zimmer (Reva) & Tom Pelphrey (Jonathan)

Stephanie wishes she had more time with 'mom'. (Pictured with Laura Wright (Cassie).)

Kim Zimmer (Reva) is someone Stephanie would like to work with more!

You've had a lot of material over the last few months, what has been your strongest scene?
I think the scenes that I felt the best about, and that got the most positive reactions from fans, were the scenes between Tammy and Jonathan in the barn this summer. They were difficult scenes, but our director, Brian Mertes, was really great about helping us get through them, and we all felt really good about the outcome.

What plotline (yours or other's) have you enjoyed on the show?
I've loved watching Reva and Jonathan's relationship over the past several months. There's a lot for them to work out and get past, but there's a strong love between them that makes all of their troubles so interesting to watch.

What plotline do you wish you were a bigger part of?
I wish Tammy were more involved with her mother. Between Dinah carrying the baby and Cassie and Edmund breaking up, it seems like Tammy and Cassie could have had more mother/daughter bonding scenes. But, unfortunately, Tammy hasn't been too involved in much of her mother's drama.

What's one scene you would never want to have to tape again?
I've taped a few scenes over the last two weeks that took so much energy and hard work, that I'd never want to revisit them again. I can't say exactly what they were, because they haven't aired yet, but if you pay attention at the end of September, you'll see that Tammy is in a very difficult situation, and some of those scenes were difficult enough that I'd never want to have to tape them again!

Who would you like to have more scenes with & why?
I'd like to have more scenes with Kim Zimmer (Reva) simply because Kim is so amazing as an actress. Not only is she always fun to be around, but she's just incredible in every scene she does. I learn a lot from working with her, so the more scenes we get together, the better!

Stephanie shares some of her beauty secrets with you!

What was your favorite outfit that Tammy wore? Hair style?
There have been a lot of great clothes this year! I don't know that I have a favorite. As far as hair goes, I love it when Tammy's hair is in curls.

How do they do your makeup for on-camera?
It's interesting. When I get my make-up done for work, I usually feel like it looks too heavy, like I'm wearing too much. But on camera, the make-up looks different, and lighter. They always start my make-up by applying a foundation and concealer under the eyes and on blemishes. Then, eyeshadow, liquid liner, mascara, blush, and a lip gloss.

Is there a certain product that they always use on you?
They usually use Mac Lipglass on my lips, and I've convinced Joe (who usually does my make-up) that the Benefit It Stick is the best concealer ever.

What's your favorite piece of clothing at the moment?
Right now, that'd be my new jeans that I got at H&M. The fit is just right, so I've been wearing them all the time. I'm also in love with a stretchy white sweatshirt I've got that has a ballet neck. It's from Express.

What is your skincare regime like in real life?
Nothing fancy. I usually use Mario Badescu products, including their Enzyme Cleansing Gel. My skin gets really dry after I shower, so I always use a moisturizer on my face.

Do you enjoy getting ready for big events?
I love it. I love playing dress up!

Stephanie has played with fire... and water over the past few months at GL. Here she shares some of her experiences working with special effects.

Back in March, Jonathan saved Tammy from a fire in her hotel room. What was it like to work with fire on the set?
It was such a cool experience. It takes a lot of work to create a fire on set and keep everyone safe at the same time. I learned a bit about some of the tricks involved, and when I saw it on TV, I thought it looked great.

Were you nervous about getting hurt?
I wasn't too worried, because we had professionals on set to make sure that everything was done safely. I remember that one of the concerns was to be careful with my hair, because there was a lot of hairspray in it, which is highly flammable. So we had to make sure that my head stayed far away from the flames!

Had you ever worked with fire as a prop before?
Nope, it was my first experiene with it.

This August, Nate kidnapped Tammy and held her on a boat, where he tried to drown her. What were the kidnapping scenes like for you?
They were pretty tough. It takes a lot of energy to portray fear. At the same time, it was fun to work with our fight coordinator, Rick, on the kicking and falling and other violent aspects of the scenes. The funny thing about it all was that Ritchie (who played Nate) is really one of the sweetest people ever. He hated having to be mean and violent towards me, and he'd always apologize after the scenes, even though it was just make believe!

Was it difficult to be tied up and gagged for your scenes?
I found it helpful, as far as playing scared was concerned. You feel helpless without use of your hands. The only problem I had with the gag was that, if I had to wear it too long, I'd start to drool a little bit- lol!

Did you get hurt in the filming process?
Nothing bad. That's why Rick was there, to make sure we were safe. I did end up with a nasty bruise on my right shoulder because, when I fell trying to get away from Nate, and then tried to crawl away, I fell onto a pile of ropes, which rubbed against my shoulder and gave me a big bruise/rope burn. Also, when we were on the boat, and I was handcuffed to the steering wheel, my wrists got pretty red and sore from struggling with the cuffs. But all in all, we managed to stay safe and injury-free.

At one point, Nate tried to drown Tammy. Was it weird to have your head dunked during the scene?
That was my favorite part! We had originally blocked that scene differently. When I tried to escape, Nate was just going to grab me again and put his arm around my throat. But Ritchie and I, our director, and Rick agreed at the last minute that we needed to do something more violent. Nate had already grabbed me several times. We needed to take it to the next level with something really scary. So someone suggested that he grab my hair and dunk my head under water. Our director asked if I was cool with that, and I immediately agreed, because I thought it'd be a perfect threatening move for Nate to make. We went over some safety tips, and then just went for it. Producers and editors that were watching commented that it looked great. I'm glad we went for it.

What was one thing you would go back and redo about those scenes?
There are always things that could be done better. I remember struggling with one scene, before we got to the boat, when Nate had my face pushed up against a chain link fence, and I yelled at him about the fact that Jonathan would not end up like him. I wish I could redo that scene, simply because I think I'd make some different acting choices. But otherwise, I like how it all turned out.

Tammy & Jonathan on fire!
March 23, 2005

Tammy was kidnapped by Nate (Ritchie Coster) who held her for several episodes.

Tammy tried to get away from Nate... but didn't make it.

The handcuffs were rough for Stephanie, leaving her with sore wrists.

Stephanie's head was dunked several times during the boathouse scenes when Nate tried to kill Tammy.

The scenes against the chain link fence are the only ones that Stephanie wishes she could redo.

Stephanie loves to dress up! Here's the details on her look for the 2005 Technical Emmys and the Evening with the Daytime Stars event!

Stephanie's dress from the 2005 Technical Emmys.

Who is the designer?
Tech Emmys: BCBG
Evening W/ Stars: Diane von Furstenberg

Was it hard to choose?
Tech Emmys: Not really. I stumbled upon it back in February when we were doing a weekend of events in Las Vegas. I immediately loved the color, and thought that it looked like a fairy dress.
Evening W/ Stars: I wasn't sure what to wear. I hadn't gone shopping or anything. I was just picking something out of my closet. I'd been wanting to wear this wrap dress to something because I love it. It was a gift from my boyfriend's mom, who bought it on e-bay.

Was it your first choice?
Tech Emmys: Yes.
Evening W/ Stars: I think I was considering two or three different outfits, but it won out because it's comfortable!

Where did you get your jewelry? Who designed it?
Tech Emmys: I bought all my jewelry at Strawberry, a great place for bargain shopping. I think the most expensive thing was the necklace at $6.
Evening W/ Stars: Did I wear jewelry to this?? Haha, I can't remember.

Who did your hair & makeup?
Tech Emmys: I did. With my hair I tried to immitate the way it looks when I take it down from a ponytail and it stays sort of slicked back. I like that look because it's a way for me to wear my hair down, but still keep it out of my face. And I just went with bronzes and peaches for my make-up.
Evening W/ Stars: Again, I did my make-up and hair. Nothing fancy that night. I kept it simple.

Stephanie remembers one of her favorite fan meetings...

What is the most memorable fan meeting you ever had?
Last October I met an enthusiatic fan at the St. Jude's event during our Guiding Light fan club weekend. He stood out right away, wearing a fedora and a stylish suit. He's young, and introduced himself to me during the event. Later that night, I had a long conversation with him about acting and the business. He was asking me for advice, because he wants to be an actor, too. A few weeks later, I got a letter from him, telling me that I'd been inspirational to him and thanking me for the conversation. The letter was so sweet, and made me feel really happy. Since October, I've met him again at more fan events, and he's given me the good news that he booked dayplayer roles on One Life to Live. It's exciting to me to see how his career is getting off the ground since our conversation last October.
